Snails and spiders on the Mljet island
During earlier biospeleological research on Mljet island, we found shells of freshwater snails from the Hydrobiidae family. As such findings are extremely rare on the Adriatic islands, we carried out field research on freshwater snails on the island. In addition to caves and pits, we also looked for snails in springs and muddy freshwater habitats. We found them in 8 out of 10 localities. Now follows the detailed sample processing.
While we were on Mljet, Iva Čupić held a lecture “From Arachnophobia to Arachnology”. The lecture covered understanding the frequency of this phobia, how to work on it, and how much of real danger spiders actually pose to humans.
