Establishing monitoring in Židovske jame

After 10 years, we are returning to the subteranean fauna of the Židovske jame. It is a 95.8 m long cave located near Gornja Stubica. The goals of the project are to compare the current state with the state in 2014, and to develop guidelines and a protocol for permanent monitoring of populations, habitats and microclimatic parameters. Over the course of a year, we will visit the cave eight times in order to better capture potential seasonal variations. We had the first two field trips on July 20 and 29, 2025, when we inspected and determined microhabitats, collected subteranean fauna, and set up and collected pit-fall traps.

The next round of research will follow in the fall!
